First we'd like to thank everyone who has donated to the ride. We have raised just over $1,200 and we could not have done it without your help! But, we're still a long way from $4,000 and we definitely haven't come anywhere close to getting 200 individuals to donate $20 each--so we're asking for your help. You can help us by passing this along to others. And, if you are willing to make a donation to any cause, please consider making a donation to the charities supported by this ride--we're asking for $20, but if you can't spare that, please consider giving $5 or $10. We assure you that we will only fundraise for this event (or one like it) once a year--we won't contact you for any other cause or events. And we have done our homework and can assure you that your money does get to the organizations, all of which are not-for-profit and all of which do important work. And, yes, your donation is tax deductible. So, why not give?
What does $20 buy?
5 lunches at McDonalds or 5 (maybe 4) coffee drinks at Starbuck's (could you skip them one week?)
Less than half of a month's cable bill (why not play checkers instead and make a donation?)
Dinner out (could you cook at home and give the $20 to these charities?)
You get the idea...
Oh, what else does $20 buy?
When combined with that of others who will support these charities--it will help pay for mammograms and other costs over & above what insurance might provide, it helps pay for education, it helps pay for services that support individuals with breast cancer and their families. So, $20 can go a really long way!
Speaking of individuals who have had breast cancer, we currently have 30 names on the list for the bike flag. They include women who are deceased but who had breast cancer in their lifetime, women currently fighting the disease, and women who are currently surviving the disease. They are mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and wives. If you have someone you'd like added to the list, do so in the comment box or email us at inthistwogether@gmail.com
